Prepping the Powder Room

As a modern hostess, it's oh so important to have an inviting, guest-ready powder room at all times. I fondly remember when we were house hunting, and as we toured our current house, I swooned over the stunning powder room - the grass cloth lined walls, stylish lucite accessories, contemporary vanity - a tiny and chic retreat for visitors that left such an impression on me. So how does one prep the powder to impress guests? Simply follow these quick tips:
  • Well-Kept: Strive to always have a tidy and sparking powder room, and keep it clutter free. Also, matching accessories (soap dispenser, guest towel tray, trash can, etc.) offer a polished look.
  • Well-Stocked: Make sure you have plenty of the essentials available in the powder room, including liquid hand soap, hand lotion, and hand towels (monogramed linen or high-quality disposable do the trick!)
  • Florals/Candles: When expecting guests, fill a bud vase with some roses, peonies, or your favorite bloom and light a scented candle (I also dim the lights to create extra ambiance). It's a thoughtful detail that will be appreciated.
