Blissful Baby Shower

Happiest of Mondays dear readers! I had the recent pleasure of co-hosting a baby shower for a dear friend, so I of course became inspired to share the details on MBB. A truly special way to celebrate the mom-to-be and bundle of joy, a baby shower is synonymous with family, close friends, love, thoughtful gifts, and a confection or two! Whether you're about to plan a celebratory fete for a sweet bebe or tucking this post away for the future, here's everything you need to know to plan a blissful baby shower that's sure to have your guests cooing! Enjoy!

The Hosts and Mom-To-Be
THEME
First and foremost, decide on a theme, as this will dictate all elements of the shower. You can base the theme off of the baby's nursery, gender, or opt for a darling gender-neutral theme, such as "Cute as a Button." We chose a giraffe and lion themed shower, using the colors of orange, blue, and cream.

VENUE
Select the venue based on the guest list, as you want to ensure there is adequate space and seating for all of the attendees. Venue options include the host's home, restaurant, or country club. We held the shower at my home, setting up delectable nibbles in the dinning room followed by present-opening in the den.

INVITES
Kindly ask the mom-to-be for her guest list, and then select invitations to match the chosen theme. Strive to send invitations 3-4 weeks in advance of the shower and create a spreadsheet to keep track of RSVPs. We picked out sweet giraffe themed invites.

FOOD/DRINKS
Depending upon the time of day and venue of your shower, you can have a seated meal or small bites a la buffet style, and I suggest a lighter fare of savory and sweet items. We enlisted the culinary talents of a fabulous local caterer, Cynthia of Cafe Danielle, and served an assortment of tea sandwiches, a Chinese chicken salad (the mom-to-be's favorite!) as well as custom iced cake balls and petits fours featuring baby giraffes and lions. We also offered iced tea, sparkling water, and mimosas.

FLOWERS
Lush, fragrant blooms always add a "wow" factor to any event, and trust me dear readers, are oh so easy to create. Since we held the shower at my home, I created a combination of low and high arrangements for each room, featuring a mixture of whimsical lisianthus, elegant, roses, cheerful snapdragons, and voluminous hydrangeas.

DETAILS
Thoughtful details truly leave an impression and make the shower exquisitely personalized. We had a banner made welcoming the new baby, custom cream and pale blue monogrammed napkins with the baby's initials, and cream and pale blue striped straws. We also printed "Wishes for Baby" sheets so guests could write down heart-warming pearls of wisdom for the newborn. In addition to gifts, we asked each guest to bring a book, giving our dear friend a full collection of stories to enchant her little one.

FAVORS
Oh how I love party favors! Baby shower favors can range from precious bottles of pink nail polish to iced cookies shaped like rattles and blocks. We chose pale blue and cream baby macaroons in clear bags tied with a cream ribbon.
